No Thriller in 2011!

We’re so sorry to have to say this, but after a great deal of consideration and deep soul-searching, we have decided that we need to give the Portsmouth Thriller Dance a rest this year! With Halloween being on a Monday night our audience is bound to be fairly small, and we don’t want people to get sick of us. So we’re all going to work on other projects this year and we’ll reconsider for next year! If you’re still interested in being part of our little group, then please contact me and let me know, and I’ll add you to our email list.

WHOA!! We got us some new t-shirts! And magnets, bumper stickers, jackets, and more!! There’s a serious cool factor when you’re walkin’ around town in your stylin’ new zombie shirt with a zombie coming out of your chest. It’s a phenomenon. Zombie Counts!

and a one, and a two… Actually, we have been receiving numerous requests for the counts in the dance so that people can practice at home! So Cathleen has kindly provided us with a listing of counts that she put together herself to help her learn the dance and I’m posting it here. If it helps you, more power to you – some people need to SEE it.

THRILLER
31 sets of 8=248 counts

1 walk with zombie arms
2 head nods on counts 1 and 5
3 arms out and 2 steps together with pelvic thrust
4 clawing arms, head up on counts 3 and 7
5 step right, lean back, bend down and up into right hip, down and hip on counts 6 and 8
6 clap on count 2 and shimmy to the right into shoulder shrug,
7 clap on count 1 and shimmy to the left into shoulder shrug
8 small claws and slight hop on counts 3/4 and 7/8 R&L
9 Grrs! R&L
10 zombie shimmy to right, leg and arm out on count 4, then to the left, into big claws on count 8
11 big claw to right and left
12 on count 3 small jump into circling arms on 4, into down and up shimmy, body up on counts 6 and 8
13 hips R&L front, and then to back
14 turn to the front air guitar using those hips
15 hips to right, 4 counts arm/snap low and 4 counts arm/snap high
16 pelvic thrust R&L into knee bend and hands on thighs; head down on 5, look up on 6, look out on 7, and slap thighs on 8
17 stomp around to your right, look back on 4, continue around until 8
18 stomp forward 8 starting with right foot
19 together counts 1/2, right foot into hop “and 3″ look left “and 4″, pivot to left on 5, arms out on 6, hold 7, thrust in/head out on 8
20 right foot out, then left, then right, arms up on 6, hips and arms counts 7 and 8
21 step forward R, L, R, and down on counts “and 4″
22 zombie up
23 repeat #19
24 repeat #20
25 repeat #21
26 zombie up
27 zombie up, and into high note claws for counts 5-8
28 repeat #10

30 into knee bend count 3 and thigh slap on count 4, stomp around, look back on 8

Creatures crawl in search of blood
To terrorize yawls neighbourhood

And rot inside a corpses shell

The funk of forty thousand years
And grizzy ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom
And though you fight to stay alive
